California Touring

Hi, how’s it going?

This week, the band is hitting the road to play a handful of shows in the Golden State, opening for Langhorne Slim and the Law. Please share the news with your friends on Facebook, Twiitter, MySpace, Friendster, Bebo, etc. And of course, I hope you’ll join us in person if we’re playing in your hood!

Be well and see you soon,

Henry

This Wednesday in Brooklyn

Dear Knickerbockers,

This Wednesday, come see us in concert at The Rock Shop in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We’ll be playing songs from the new record Linda Vista and unveiling some new jams as well.

The show is $10 and you have to be at least 21 years old or have a fake ID to get in. Buy advance tickets here.

We play at 11pm, but I recommend heading over early to catch the other bands on the bill. They are all awesome. Check out their musics at the links below…

Henry Wolfe and Co.

Tonight in LA & The Last Movie Of The Week

Dear friends,

I made it home safe and sound. Thanks for showing me such a good time (and for signing the mailing list). It was wonderful meeting you.

As I mentioned in my last communiqué, I’m playing free shows every Monday in June at the Bootleg Theater here in LA. The residency kicks off tonight with a special performance of Wolfe Sings Field, a musical fable of sin, catastrophe and divine retribution at an old folks home. I’ll be telling the story and singing the songs accompanied by a chamber ensemble made up of piano and a string quartet, conducted live by Oliver Newell (aka Oliwa). The show will also feature projections by Yelena Zhelezov and opening sets by Amy Blashke and Jonathan Wilson.

After this show I’ll be playing with a full band for the rest of the month. We’re gonna be joined by some immensely talented groups. See below for more info (PLEASE NOTE: the show tonight starts promptly at 7:30, not 8 as it says on the poster).

Also, the Henry Wolfe (somewhat) weekly cinema series wraps up this week with David Guy Levy’s video for Van Nuys, in which I fly a plane for the first time in my life. There’s also some mild nudity. Don’t worry, you can still share it with your friends!

As always, thanks for not changing. You’re getting more beautiful by the day.

June LA Residency and New Tour Dates

Dear Everybody,

I’m writing this backstage at the Off Broadway club in St. Louis, MO. It’s been a harrowing day. Arriving in town this afternoon, Tyler and I were greeted by air raid sirens warning of an impending tornado. We ducked into the nearest bar and waited out the storm over a couple pints of local beer while ping-pong ball sized hail slammed against the windowpanes. I’m keeping my fingers crossed some courageous people brave the elements and make it out to the show tonight. Since we’re going on in a few minutes, I’ll keep this brief…

We’ve added a few dates to wrap up the tour:

Sunday, May 29th
at Corazon in Santa Fe, NM
Tuesday, May 31st at Compound Grill in Phoenix, AZ

It’s a little bittersweet to be headed home after such an incredible trip. Bitter, because it has been so much fun meeting you guys. Thanks again for coming out, thanks for signing the mailing list, and for turning your friends on to the music…

Sweet, because I’m coming home! And I’m happy to announce that next month, every Monday in June, we’ll be playing free shows at The Bootleg Theater in LA! For each of these dates I’ll be joined by some of my favorite groups around. See below for details…

Tomorrow we’re off to Kansas City. We are planning to eat BBQ. That’s how it is.

Movie Of The Week (5/17/11) and NYC Record Release Show at Joe’s Pub!

Hey everybody,

Now screening at the Henry Wolfe movie house: a gorgeous animated music video for Open The Door, directed by Yelena Zhelezov. This little movie features puppets (designed by Yelena) watching TV, rowing boats, biking and making love.

If you happen to be in New York this WEDNESDAY May 18th, stop by Joe’s Pub. To celebrate the release of my new record Linda Vista we’ll be playing the album from beginning to end, backed by a horn section. We did this in LA a few weeks ago and it was an absolute blast. The show starts at 9:30pm, and tickets are $14. Click here to buy them in advance (and get yourself a free one year subscription to New York Magazine).

In the meantime, the road goes on forever. I’ll be appearing tonight at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA, accompanied by Tyler Cash on keys. We play at 7:30. If you have any friends in the area, please give them the skinny.

Thanks again to those of you who’ve come out to the shows this month. The opportunity to travel this beautiful country doing what I love and meeting such wonderful people has been one of the pleasures of my life. I’m so very grateful.

And speaking of beauty, have you looked in the mirror lately? Why change?

Much love,

Henry
